Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' made its entry into Bihar on Monday, following the dramatic political shift in the state as Chief Minister Nitish Kumar joined forces with the NDA, breaking away from the 'mahagathbandhan' government led by the RJD.
The yatra commenced in Bihar through Kishanganj, a district known for its substantial Muslim population and Congress stronghold. This marks Rahul Gandhi's first visit to Bihar since the 2020 assembly poll campaign.
Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to address a public meeting in Kishanganj, with subsequent rallies in Purnea and Katihar. His Bihar visit will be followed by a trip to West Bengal via Araria district, and he will return to Bihar through Jharkhand, as stated by state Congress president Akhilesh Prasad Singh.
The party has extended invitations to allies in Bihar, including RJD president Lalu Prasad and CPI(ML)-L general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, for the upcoming rally in Purnea.
The political landscape in Bihar witnessed a significant upheaval on Sunday when Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, also the JDU president, parted ways with the Mahagathbandhan government, aligning once again with the BJP-led NDA. Kumar took the oath as chief minister for the ninth time, with two BJP leaders sworn in as deputy chief ministers.
